Delhi is facing a sharp climb in cases of Dengue fever, according to new government figures, with 831 cases reported so far this year.

Officials believe there may be many more cases amongst the city’s 1.7 million slum dwellers. Officially, an outbreak can only be declared once cases reach a five-year high, and 2015 has not yet exceeded the number of infections in 2010, but government doctors are trying to identify the strain of the virus in case emergency measures are needed in October, normally the worst month for Dengue fever infections.
