Danish collection-box tourist thief banned from Ireland

A Danish tourist has been banned from Ireland after stealing money from a church collection box. The 61-year-old was found in a car park counting a large amount of coins – further investigation uncovered a collection box from a church in Buncrana, €958.77 and £1434 in marked-up bags, three screwdrivers, a hacksaw and a torch. Jens Christiansen was allowed to keep €355 to pay for his flight home, and given a three-month jail sentence, which is suspended as long as he does not return to Ireland for two years.
