About Nada

Nada El Sawy is an Egyptian-American freelance journalist who has lived in Cairo since July 2020. As a freelancer, she is a frequent contributor to Condé Nast Traveller Middle East. She spent two years as Cairo correspondent for UAE-based newspaper The National, covering a variety of topics from arts and culture to business and politics. Prior to moving to Cairo, she lived in Dubai and contributed to international publications such as The New York Times, the Financial Times and Newsweek. She previously worked for Newsweek in New York and the Associated Press in Los Angeles.

She loves discovering new places with her husband and three sons and usually likes to plan trips that include a lot of activity and adventure. Recent highlights include trekking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal and hiking on Vatnajökull Glacier in Iceland. There has been so much to explore in Egypt, from diving in Marsa Alam to camping in the White Desert.
